The NextGenPCR™ 16S Full Gene Amplification Kit (RUO) is a complete PCR assay kit intended for amplification of the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene from biological samples. The resulting amplicons can be analyzed using downstream applications (e.g., next-generation sequencing). Sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene is a well-established method to identify bacterial species in a sample. Identification is based on the unique combination of conserved and variable regions within the 16S rRNA gene, allowing species-level taxonomic discrimination after PCR.

The primers in this kit are directed against bacterial 16S rDNA. In combination with the ultrafast, high-fidelity NextGenPCR™ Arctic Fox HF Chemistry-2x polymerase master mix the full-length 16S rRNA gene is amplified, resulting in a ~1500 bp fragment which includes all nine hypervariable regions.

With our NextGenPCR™ Thermal Cycler and recommended cycling protocol, full-length 16S rRNA gene amplification can be achieved in less than 21 minutes total cycling time, enabling full sequencing analysis within a single working day.
